Introduction

Hello and welcome to The Great T206 Back Stamp Project!

For several years I have been very drawn to T206s with stamps on their reverses. It doesn't have to be a specific stamp per se, but any legible stamp interests me. I recently decided to start this blog as a place to add scans of any new back stamp that I can find. I have a website set up here to display all of the backs together, but all updates and new additions will be posted here.

Some of the images will be of cards that I own, however eventually most of them will simply be images that I have collected from other places. I'm asking that anyone who reads this blog or sees my other website will participate in the project and send me images of cards they own with back stamps as well.

I know I said that I'm not looking for a specific back stamp, but I am very interested owning a particular stamp. The purple number stamp pictured on the right is an example of the particular stamp that I'm very interested in owning. If you happen to have any examples of these, PLEASE let me know if you are willing to part with them. I'm trying to acquire as many of them as I can and even if you don't want to sell or trade for it, please share scans of it with me. I'm trying to document as many of them as I can and scans would be greatly appreciated.

Now, back on topic. Please let others know about this project and hopefully we can create a huge database of the wonderfully quirky and often overlooked additions to our T206s. Collectors long ago decided to mark their cards with these images. Sometime it was a name and address, sometimes a number, or a shape, sometimes a date. In any case, they marked them. And the must have marked a bunch of them if they were collectors.

I'm hoping this will uncover some long lost collections and bring them back together in a virtual world. Let's have fun with this and see where it leads.

Thank you very much for any help.
